Employees Praise, Glassdoor Nods, Interactive Wins

December 13, 2013

Interactive Intelligence Group has earned the enviable title of being one of the Best Places to work in the United States and has been honored with the Glassdoor Employees’ choice award,  ranking seventh with a 4.3 company rating out of a possible 5.

Perhaps the best compliment that can be paid to any company is that it’s a great place to work, for it means that its employees are more than satisfied and tap dance to work. That’s the bottom line for any firm as the pecuniary benefits will automatically follow.

Glassdoor is a U.S.-based "job and career site” that was launched in 2008. It rates CEOs and workplaces solely on the basis of feedback that it gets from the people who know the company best- its employees. An anonymous online review survey is conducted to find out what the employees think about the company and how they rate certain key workplace factors. The survey participants are volunteer employees.

“Glassdoor is working to create greater workplace transparency and is committed to helping people find jobs they love,” said Robert Hohman, Glassdoor co-founder and CEO, adding, “Through the Employees’ Choice Awards, we aim to highlight those employers that excel in keeping employees satisfied and engaged.”

To be eligible for the award, companies must satisfy the minimum requirement of having at least 1,000 or more employees and must have received at least 50 approved company reviews during the stipulated time period.

After verifying whether the responses are from genuine employees, the final list is compiled. The quality, number of reviews and consistency are key aspects that are examined.

“These awards are special because they are a true reflection of the people who make up what we all too often think of as a corporate machine,” said Dr. Donald E. Brown founder and CEO of Interactive Intelligence.

What makes people want to work in a place? There’s no one-liner answer for this, for it’s a mixture of several things. Apart from the freebies that many companies offer, the work culture should encourage employees to grow, be creative, stretch their capabilities and empower them.

And that’s exactly what Interactive Intelligence has been doing, for that’s what the reviews revealed.

“After reading many of the reviews, the responses show that we are doing a good job of facilitating a culture of creativity, independent thinking and empowerment,” said Brown, who promised to make the company even better.
