MAXIMUS, Hawai'i Health Connector Sign Multiyear Contract

June 14, 2013

Hawai’i Health Connector has chosen MAXIMUS, a worldwide provider of government services, for the development, deployment and administration of its Customer Service Contact Center and Support Service. The $12 million contract, comprised of a three-year base period and two one-year alternative periods, will commence on June 16, 2013.

Kevin Hause, COO of Hawai’i Health Connector, said in a statement, "At the Connector, we remain committed to our goal of providing customer service that is ‘of Hawai’i; for Hawai’i.’ As with all of our procurements, we used a very intensive selection process for the Connector's contact center. We are confident that choosing MAXIMUS as a partner will help us deliver exceptional customer service to all of our state's residents."

MAXIMUS will now set up and operate the Customer Service Contact Center for the Hawai’i Health Connector. Individuals and small businesses will be able to leverage the health insurance options available via a “one-stop” shopping experience using the web-based health insurance marketplace, the Connector. Customers will be able to send in queries to the customer service contact center via phone, e-mail, postal mail, web chat and fax. The contact center will be set up in Oahu and will function every day of the week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. HST. The contact center will begin operation in mid-September.

Richard A. Montoni, CEO of MAXIMUS, said, “MAXIMUS is proud to have been selected to support the State of Hawai’i with this important program. We bring our proven experience in providing customer contact operations to nearly 25 million state Medicaid beneficiaries across the country as we help the residents of Hawai’i understand their health insurance options. This latest contract award further expands our portfolio of projects related to the Affordable Care Act. We have also been selected as the vendor of choice to support health insurance marketplaces in Minnesota, New York, Vermont and Connecticut.”

MAXIMUS is a major global provider of government services, helping states to manage and implement large-scale government health benefits programs. Its depth of experience will offer Hawai’i a detailed understanding of the state’s population requirements, and provide the capacity and scalability to assist the state’s continuing efforts in aiding individuals and families in securing reasonable health insurance through the Connector.
