Exotel Startup Gains 150 Customers in Two Years

Interactive Voice Response (IVR) automates interactions with telephone callers, and these days, companies are turning to this technology because it can decrease the cost of sales, collections, service, support calls and inquiry to and from their company.

Recently, Bangalore-based SaaS (News - Alert) startup, Exotel Techcom Pvt Ltd, revealed that it signed up 150-plus clients in less than two years, including Titan Watches, Flipkart.com, Practo.com, CarWale.com, The Godrej Group, Interviewstreet.com and more.

Exotel provides cloud-based business phone systems to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), assisting users in looking after customers with the help of inbound voice calls and SMSes. To achieve this, they do not have to get into the problems of deploying a full-fledged call centre system.

Exotel offers a virtual business phone system along with abilities such as voicemail, extensions, dialer, conference, SMS keyword responder etc., which is safe, fault tolerant and provides enhanced performance. With the help of Exotel, users can create highly interactive and intelligent voice SMS applications in a very short period.

“Exotel is basically a business phone system that allows businesses to receive and make calls and SMSes without having to invest in any physical infrastructure like a PBX (News - Alert) (private branch exchange) or PRI (primary rate interface) setup,” explained Vijay Sharma. “Companies can build marketing tools, sales tools and support tools on top of Exotel and can track all of this via reporting, recording, interactive voice response and many features.”

In other news, back in May 2012, the company secured INR25 million ($0.48 million) in Series A venture funding round. The companies funding Exotel included Mumbai Angels and Blume Venture Advisors, where according to the transaction, Mumbai Angels and Blume Ventures acquired a 25 percent stake in Exotel. Exotel stated that the company will make use of the funding to improve its infrastructure, and stabilize its product and expand the team.
