December 15, 2011

NBN Co Limited has chosen AccessTel Kentrox Australia, an innovator of site monitoring, management and control solutions, to provide site management solutions for the broadband network across Australia.

As part of this initiative, AKA will offer a comprehensive site management solution, including a remote suite of products, Optima management system and associated services.

This comprehensive site management solution will provide remote site management and will dramatically reduce operating expenses and improve network quality, resulting in higher customer satisfaction.

"Site management is becoming extremely important to help minimize costs, especially for networks that are spread across large areas," explains John Ryan, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing of AKA, in a release. "We are excited to provide our solutions to NBN Co during the creation and development of the broadband network and look forward to working with them for many years."

Officials said that Optima management system will provide a complete view of infrastructure status at Point-of-Interconnect and Fiber Access Node sites and real-time and historical data relevant to NBN's infrastructure and environment.

The remote suite of products will offer site monitoring including site power, environmental conditions, and out-of-band access to key network equipment for diagnostics and remote configuration.

Initially, the AKA solution will be used by NBN Co for site management to notify technicians of potential operational issues and provide the ability to monitor access to racks and cabinets. The solution will also offer power management to monitor and send notifications if site power issues occur.

In related news, Kentrox announced that it has expanded its presence in Africa and now has a new office in Johannesburg, South Africa.
