Mobius Launches mobiWINE Label Image Recognition Service

July 25, 2011

mobiWINE, a new mobile service, has been designed for use by wineries, vintners, distributors, restaurants and wine consumers. The new offering from Mobius allows consumers to order either a bottle or a whole case of wine for delivery using a camera-enabled mobile phone and the free Mobius image recognition software used by the service or can be accessed through desktop internet browsers.

"Windward Vineyard's small production Winery is excited to join this avant-garde concept in wine marketing; on the E-Commerce Horizon. It enables us to provide a virtual storefront to the world of wine lovers for the first time as a seamless process and I really mean the WORLD,” said Marc Goldberg, Windward Vineyards president and founder, in a release.

The consumer is simply required to complete a free mobiWINE registration, and send the photo of the bottle label to [email protected]. mobiWINE then identifies the wine and provides the consumer with ordering options and details.

Alternatively, if a wine-seller prefers selling the wine directly to consumers, mobiWINE can also direct a consumer to the closest wine shop which houses the label. The reply messages from mobiWINE contain advertising messages so wine-sellers and related brands can additionally benefit from advertising opportunities which can help them reach across to more wine consumers.

“mobiWINE gives the consumer the ability to immediately act on their taste, and provides the wine-seller with a channel to immediately meet consumer demand. Further, the advertising model provides more opportunities for wine-sellers and others, such as luxury goods or finer food brands, to reinforce their messages with a captive consumer in a known demographic,” said Aram Kovach, Mobius CEO.

mobiWINE, which provides updates on local events and weather forecast, is a great way of informing consumers about wine testing events at their favorite winery and also keeps them informed about the best day to visit a winery. It offers extensive guides to pairing wine and foods, information on vineyard histories and available wine tourism opportunities. mobiWINE has tie-ups with several social media platforms, online charity campaigns, other promotional programs, and with Weather Trends360 so users can plan a winery visit depending on the weather.

“Who hasn’t planned a vacation or dream wine tasting tour say in Stefanesti-Arges only to have the weather not cooperate? With weathertrends360.com or the wt360 Pro iPhone mobile app, you can see your best wine tour vacation days a year-ahead, anywhere in the world!” said Weather Trends International CEO.
