NEC Launches UNIVERGE360 for Employee Integration to Produce a Unified Organization

February 05, 2008

NEC Corporation, a global competitor in enterprise business communications, has announced today the UNIVERGE360. This new solution enables businesses to fully integrate employee roles with automated business processes to produce a unified organization.

In order to deliver UNIVERGE360 to enterprise and small- to medium-sized business customers throughout the world, NEC will combine new and existing infrastructure, applications, software, services and partnerships.

According to The Gartner/Forbes Executive Survey, the top business issues executives face today include maintaining a competitive advantage, attracting and retaining customers, and improving overall productivity.

“Unified communications is one of the first steps companies will undertake to address these business challenges,” said Bob Hafner, Managing Vice President at Gartner, in a Tuesday statement.

“This will be followed by integrating communications into the business process to improve productivity, information availability, reduced work delays and create dramatic business advantages.”

The major advantage and difference with the UNIVERGE360 is that it places people at the center of business communications. It identifies the roles people play in an organization, and then unifies the technology and business processes needed to make employees’ jobs more efficient and effective.

NEC relied on its leadership in the convergence of IT and communications, as well as its open approach to fitting communications into the software future to stand as key differentiators in making this model a reality for enterprise customers.

“NEC helps companies evaluate what they want to accomplish, then builds a comprehensive approach to unify business processes and communications in order to achieve their objectives,” said Saburo Takizawa, Executive Vice President and Member of the Board at NEC Corporation, in Tuesday’s statement.

“Many companies suggest that business is about the network or the desktop, but NEC believes it is actually about the individuals and empowering them to communicate in a ubiquitous manner.”

NEC has already announced several solutions for unified infrastructure, unified communications, and partnerships over the past several months.  The company will continue to develop and bring to market solutions this year to enable companies to unify business communications.

NEC is taking a strategic approach to business in recognizing how important people are to the success of the enterprise. If an employee is motivated and feels like he or she is part of a team and can make a difference, he or she is more likely to be more productive, and remain with the company for a longer period of time.

For those organizations with customer-facing processes, familiarity goes a long way toward securing loyalty. A customer that can interact with the same person over time will have an established relationship with that person and will rarely buy on price. Such differentiation in the marketplace is hard to achieve, yet also hard to beat in a competitive situation.
