June 20, 2011

National Technical Systems, Inc. a leading provider of testing and engineering services, along with its joint venture subsidiary, National Quality Assurance, USA, formed a partnership with global NCS International (NCSI). This collaboration with food safety leader NCSI is designed to offer a wide range of food safety registrations for customers in North America and Europe. NQA, USA is a leading global provider of quality and environmental management systems registration services.

In a press release, William McGinnis, NTS chief executive officer announced that his company is focused on establishing presence in food safety industry – an area which has become a rapidly growing global concern. Through the collaboration, NTS seeks to globally extend its expertise into food safety. Because of the rapid growth of the sector, the joint venture, according to NTS chief, is sure to prove a success. NCSI, NTS and NQA, USA plans to offer certifications to the food safety standards on the East Coast and in additional manufacturing markets. North American division of NCSI has already established its presence in the produce, seafood and bottled water industries. Its clients include key retailers such as Wal-Mart and Costco.

In accomplishing the project, the three partners will be hiring a team of professionals and experts. The companies are also likely to train a number of full time and contract employees. Both food safety experts and technical experts will be recruited, revealed the company spokes persons.

As far as food safety certification standards are concerned, ISO 22000.2005 and FSSC 22000.2010 are the two primary certifications currently applicable to the food industry. NQA, USA was one of the first certification bodies to achieve ISO 22000.2005 approval and carry out an FSSC 22000.2010 audit in North America. With this partnership, NQA, USA will now also be able to offer registration for SQF (Safe Quality Food Initiative), BRC British Retail Consortium), GlobalG.A.P. (Good Agricultural Practices) and other food safety certifications.

A month ago NTS reported an expansion in its Silicon Valley Operations through the recent addition of a new 30,000-square-foot Environmental and Dynamics testing laboratory located in the city of Newark, California.
